Never does Amrita allow me to think that I am not her mother: Sakshi Tanwar

The established actress Sakshi Tanwar is doing one of the eight episodes of Ekta Kapoor’s Ek Thhi Naayka, supposed to be a supernatural thriller.

Recently at a press conference to launch the Ek Thhi Naayka, We met up with the leading lady of Indian television. In a chat with us, the lady talked about her acting career, celebrity status, her endearing relationship with child star Amrita Mukherjee, the romance between Ram and Priya in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, her role in the upcoming supernatural TV project and her marriage plans.

Excerpts:

You career has progressed pretty well. Did you make an career plan?

(smiles) No, not really. Honestly, I had no plans of even reaching where I am today. I would say that I have been extremely blessed by God as far as my acting profession is concerned. Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, which was on air for eight years, gave me a lot of respect, love and adulation. The cast and crew were like one close-knit family. In fact, the kind of success I got from Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki was enough to last me for a lifetime. It was on the top of the charts for eight years. If sch kind of thing had to happen anywhere in the world, I would have been a recognized person.

It so happened one day when I was at home enjoying my break, I got a call for Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. To me, this isthe second innings of my life. In short, I can say that I am reaping the benefits of my hard work, dedication and sincerity that I have been known for in my earler work.

Today I am in a very comfortable position out here with a good viewer-connect and their trust in me. I just couldn’t have asked for anything more. I however feel that I have not done all that much to deserve such immense love and respect.

How does it feel to be the Queen of Indian television?

(laughs) I don’t feel that I am the Queen of Indian television. In fact, I think that I am just a newcomer. Ekta Kapoor fails to realize, why after being with her for years, I keep messaging her to give me a narration. I get equally worried and I hope that till the time I am working, I am as honest and sincere to my work as I was on the first day of my shoot. I had no idea whether I would even be pursuing acting as a career. I initially thought that I would act just for a quick source of pocket money.

You are a part of Ek Thhi Naayka which is a supernatural show. Do you believe in the supernatural?

Well, I believe in the Supreme Power. Most of the time, I am in a mental frame of surrender to the Almighty. I feel that there is a power which guides us to do what we are doing and that we are basically here to execute His plans. I have seen help coming to me from nowhere from the least expected sources. This proves that God is great.

Have you had any spooky experience?

I haven’t experienced anything spooky till date. However, once at 3 am, I saw a shadow outside my window but when I looked outside there was nobody around. That was a kind of eerie. On another occasion, once when I was very sick, I felt that the walls were coming closer to me. However, I think that was more to do with weakness than it being a supernatural occurrence.

Are you playing a Dayan in Ek Thhi Naayka?

When Ekta Kapoor called me for the role, I asked her if I would be playing a dayan in the film. She corrected me saying that I was her naayika (heroine). I accept that it is a different kind of a role. And as an actor, we should be playing varied roles, isn’t it.

Your child co-star in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain Amrita Mukherjee (Pihu) and her mother Mrinmoyee always go on praising you…

When Amrita is around, she doesn’t let me think even for a minute that I am not her mother. She hugs me, kisses me and sits on my lap. At times, she treats me like one of her age while sometimes she turns someone of my age. Occasionally, she argues with me like an adult while on our spare time, she makes me colour her drawing books.

She is a very intelligent and sensitive kid. She loves to hear stories. We have appointed a fictitious birdie. She actually thinks that there is a birdie with whom I can communicate with to tell her stories. When a shot is on, she will often ask me to summon that birdie.

We share a wonderful relationship. At times I scold her too, but that is something that is a privilege that her mom has given me to do as she knows that I am very fond of her.

I explain all the scenes to Amrita. She is a very smart kid who loves to improvise while acting. Most of our scenes together are beyond the script as they are based on our natural interactions which come out very spontaneously as they are based on our close rapport and the give and take kind of relation that we have. Once when I was crying, she really got moved and started wiping my tears. This unplanned scene came out so naturally.

According to you which scene has been the most romantic between Ram and Priya?

Recently, we did a scene when Ram is in a quandary as to how will he be able to source the money he requires his wife comes and gives him a pair of earrings. I think there was a lot of romance in it when she is ready to part with her jewellery to help out her husband financially. She does this so that they are together in their struggle. In their journey in life, they stand together at a particualar place and look into each other’s eyes lovingly. I feel that it was the best romantic part of their marital journey.

Do you have any marriage plans?

I believe in what God has a plan for us. Once He executes His plan then I will be able to answer this query of your’s. Right now, I am in a mode of surrender with Him and will accept whatever He has for me in future with my head bowed.
