INDU’S DEN
When Indu mutters aloud that he’d forgotten to put the briefcase away, Abhimanyu warns him that the briefcase could lead the police to them. Indu gets intensely worried. The issue seemed to be getting worse with every passing moment – could Sadanand have a hand in all of this? The group then decide to squander no further time in the den. Leaving the room, the two pairs hop on to their respective bikes and split up to make their way to Sanchi’s house – they had an important task of getting to the briefcase before anyone else did!

SANCHI’S ROOM
Veena is cleaning Sanchi’s room, constantly mumbling about how Sanchi and Indu had not bothered to tidy up the room for days. Just then, Sadanand had also come by – hoping to make a thorough investigation of the room in Indu and Sanchi’s absence. However, he is compelled to stop in his tracks when he spots Veena in the room. Frustrated, he hovers about in the corridor waiting for Veena to finish, so he could proceed inside and carry out his own search in.

Just as Veena is about to put Sanchi’s clothes away, she spots the leather briefcase in her cupboard. The curious lady instantly concludes that the briefcase should belong to Indu and wonders what such a briefcase could be doing there. However, being the noble woman that she was, decides against fiddling with her son-in-law’s belongings without prior permission. Shutting the cupboard doors, Veena then leaves the place.

Soon after, Sadanand decides to take advantage of the brief solitude and slips in. He begins making a desperate search in and around – the sideboards, drawers, bed and the sort. However, just as he begins ransacking their wardrobe, Indu and sanchi successfully manage to make their way to the room.
While the couple are shocked to catch Sadanand carrying out a search-mission of their premises in their absence, the lawyer is startled by their untimely arrival. Both parties sport awkward glares for a few seconds as Indu walks up to the wardrobe hesitantly. However, he soon realizes that Sadanand had not yet spotted the briefcase sitting in their cupboard. Quickly taking charge of the situation, he slams the door and hurls displeased stares at Sadanand. Holding on to the door of the wardrobe, he angrily questions his uncle about his sly presence in the room.
Stuttering to come up with a reply, Sadanand blurts out a trivial excuse and then escapes to avoid any further investigation.

Once he leaves, Indu and Sanchi make a hasty check to ensure that Sadanand had not come across the briefcase yet. Not surprisingly, the pair are relieved when they learn that their secret was still safe. Snatching the bag, Indu clasps it within his arms as he mutters under his breath that the first thing he needed to do was hide the briefcase someplace else.

THE JUNGLE (NEAR THE LODGE)
Two farmers carrying bundles of wood trip on a piece of white cloth that seemed to be protruding from the soil. Intrigued by the half-buried piece of cloth, the men decide to dig into the freshly covered mound of dirt. A short while later, they are in for a gruesome shock when they discover Rubina’s rotting skeleton.

The following sequence of events requires little elaboration.

LODGE
The next morning; the newspaper man delivers the paper to the lodge owner Mishraji. Needless to say, the first headline he comes across pertains to the death of Rubina. Subsequently, the article also mentions about a reward of 20,000 Rs to anyone who could provide any concrete information about the girl or her murderer/s. Mishraji’s interest is piqued. Besides, the face in the picture appeared familiar.
The forgetful owner desperately ruffles his brains and tries to recall where he’d seen the girl. Lucky for him, he eventually manages to place the girl’s face – she was the one who’d been staying at his place a few days ago. A second later, we see him making an urgent call to the station.

BENARAS
News spreads like wildfire around the streets of Benaras. Soon people are primarily gossiping about the discovery of the dead body in the jungle.

At the Pandey house, Roop is reading the headlines that talks about the Rubina mystery and the handsome reward – much to Abhimanyu’s horror!

At university, Mehek overhears a group of students discussing about the crime and how the girl belonged to their college. Her face turns a few shades paler.

MATHURS’
At the Mathurs’, Veena comes across the picture of Rubina’s corpse in the paper. She turns hysterical and runs to inform Tarachand.
A few moments later Radha also manages to learn the same information – it was being relayed on a National TV channel. Panicking, she calls out to everyone. In a short while, the members of the house trickle into the living room one by one – Indu and Sanchi being the last members to join the assembled crowd!

Little did they know that they were about to discover the dastardly truth about Rubina’s death being played out in detail on the channel. Everyone becomes alarmed and disturbed, especially Sadanand himself!
Yet still, more than all of them – it was Indu and Sanchi who found the entire ordeal of watching the news clippings intensely excruciating. Suffocated and anguished, the agonized pair wrestle with their fear and guilt. Just then, Indu’s phone starts ringing but he does not attend the call. Sanchi is called by Mehek too, but she cuts the call quickly enough.

Watching Sadanand’s pale face, Radha comes out of her silenced stance and begins questioning him. She wants to know why he appeared so affected by the news of Rubina’s death. However, Sadanand quickly regroups himself and tries explaining (in a very loud tone) that he was irked since they’d all be trapped by a series of investigations and police interrogations – after all, Rubina had been staying at their place and had been kidnapped right under their noses.
Radha is not convinced as to why they should fear the police force’s wrath – after all the girl was Sanchi’s friend and no one had anything else to do with her.

This statement ruffles Sanchi’s very being and a volley of tears gush from her eyes. Discerning the state of his wife, a shaken Indu swiftly clasps her hands supportively.
While the lawyer and his wife continue arguing publicly, Tarachand and Veena do not fail to notice Sanchi’s shattered state. Ultimately grabbing the sobbing girl by her hand, Veena drags her into her room to take her to task.

Indu is about to follow Sanchi into Tarachand’s room, but the father stops him.

TARACHAND’S ROOM
Veena is displeased by the latest turn of events and blames Sanchi for having brought the girl to their house. Sanchi tearfully tries to justify herself by stating that all she’d tried to do was to help the young lady. However, Veena is flustered – she felt that it was such benevolent actions of Sanchi that had landed all of them in trouble.
Needless to say; Tarachand springs to Sanchi’s support and leads his tearful daughter away.

SANCHI’S ROOM
Once in Sanchi’s room, the man gives his wailing daughter a pep talk. Under the impression that she was totally innocent and needlessly fearing police interrogation, the man metes Sanchi a few brave words of advice – the jist of which read -> truth, bravery, do-not-fear, walk-the-right-path etc etc
Struggling with the burden of her guilt, Sanchi caves in and is about to begin divulging the truth about her recent deeds. However, Indu walks in just in time and stops his wife. While Tarachand is not too happy by the interruption, Indu decides to speak up for his wife.
He gently reminds his father-in-law that Sanchi was now profoundly tormented by the death of her dear friend ‘Who could even begin to imagine that a person staying behind in our place would undergo such a thing…that such a thing would happen to her’

Letting out a loud sigh, Tarachand tells the girl that she need not fear anything. Reminding her that he was always with her, he then leaves the pair alone in their room.

No sooner than Tarachand leaves the room, Indu shuts the door and questions Sanchi about what she was about to do – the displeasure in his tone evident!
‘I told you we’d inform the police rightaway…’ Sanchi wails ‘But no..you didn’t want to listen to me…now see what’s happened…to hide one fault, we’ve been branded liars forever’
She begins shaking him violently ‘Why’re you quiet now? Tell me…’
Gravely silent, he holds her hands in his. Sanchi continues helplessly ‘Please Indu Singh…lets inform the police about everything…we’ve already committed a very big mistake by burying Rubina’s body…let’s not worsen the situation any further…’ she wipes her tears in a childlike fashion ‘If you want, I’ll take the entire blame upon myself’

Indu finds himself tortured – tortured by the truth, by their problems AND by Sanchi’s plight ‘Sanchi ji…whats happened to you…’ he speaks up ‘What are you doing…the issue is not about who’s to take the blame…we have to decide how to solve the matter now…police have started investigating everywhere… and all clues point against us…anything we say now is never going to be taken seriously…in order to save our lives, we have to find out Rubina’s murderer…’

Sanchi doesn’t know how they’d ever manage to search for the killer, but Indu reminds her that they had no other go!
‘First comes first…we have to hunt down your book from that lodge’ he mutters pensively ‘before anyone else gets hold of it!’

Precap
Mishraji finally discovers Sanchi’s economics book and hands it over to the police officers.
A vexed Indu and Sanchi are watching all of it from a distance.
